Gernhardt is today considered one of the most important contemporary German language poets.
His work has developed from the nonsense verses and humorous forms of the 1960s and 1970s to a versatile lyric, which Gernhardt always expanded to include new tones.

Directing-Duo Carolin Pienkos and Cornelius Obonya :'My happiness will no longer be found in your gaze', says Mozart's Singspiel. Probably the most cruel thing that can happen to loving people: the loss of their love. At the tender age of 12, Mozart composed 'Bastien und Bastienne', a little tragedy about the love aberrations of two young people - a childlike prelude to the opera 'Così fan tutte'. Bastien is unfaithful to his Bastienne, the abandoned suffers terribly. But the magician Colas knows how to help the young lovers with an all too human trick. Together with Angelo Pollak and other young singers, conductor Heinz Ferlesch and Barucco, we will show the audience at the HERBSTGOLD Festival the path of the lovers at the former workplace of Joseph Haydn.
